Notes on Hunyuan Qigong Live-streaming 2020.04.22 陈中华混元气功直播笔记

My notes from today’s Hunyuan Qi Gong lesson from Master Chen.

So today’s lesson was “switching to qigong mode” by standing (in the wuji stance?) and ‘forgetting yourself’.

first thing to do is ‘many counts in, one count out’ breathing. To start with, aim for about 4-8 breaths a minute, for three months.

Do external things (like counted breathing?) , internal is a ‘result’ that will happen on its own. Counted breathing is one way (external) to ‘kill your thoughts’ (internal result). Focusing on something that is not thinking (here breath + counts) to kill thoughts. Killing the ape of the heart and the horse of the mind is very difficult, so we use method.

Qigong is more difficult than Taiji, because there is less to do. In Taiji, more difficult to do simple moves than many elaborate moves . In Qigong, in the end, you don’t move at all.

Do 50 minutes taji, 10 minutes qigong. (in qigong) in the beginning, just stand. (ok, I’m adding this to the daily PM yilu practice)

Some students asked some advanced questions about meridians etc, which I didn’t understand.

  1. To look inward, drop the eye lid like a curtain (垂帘). Leave a little bit opening so you can see a dim light, just in front of your feet. Like the twilight, morning glow and evening dusk. The colour might start to change. There are three colours: black, white and red.
    Think the body is a box. Focus on the inner feelings and forget about the body.
    Three practices:
    1. Pulling the Qi (拉气)
    2. Collecting Qi to 3 dantians 三丹
    3. 2 hands rubbing the ball 双手揉球
